Greek-style tzatziki is made with strained yogurt, cucumbers, olive oil, garlic, salt, and sometimes lemon juice. It also has dill, parsley, or mint.
My dad taught me how to make tzatziki sauce 30 years ago, and I’ve been making it ever since. My dad made it with sour cream instead of Greek yogurt. I have made it with all sour cream, all yogurt, and a combo of the two. My favorite way to make it is with Greek yogurt and a little sour cream. You can experiment and see which way you like it best!
We love tzatziki on Greek chicken or lamb served in a warm pita with lettuce, tomato, onion. It’s also a great dip for veggies and homemade pita chips. I like serving it with my roasted red pepper hummus on a Mediterranean appetizer board. Eating it right from the bowl with a spoon is also perfectly acceptable! 🙂 YUMMY!
