These Taco Pita Pizzas are an easy weeknight dinner and a fun twist on pizza night! They are topped with fresh ingredients and easy to customize, making them perfect for the whole family! They can be made both gluten and dairy-free.

When my kids were little, I started making pita pizzas for quick weeknight dinners, and they quickly became a family favorite. Now my grandkids love them just as much as my kids did. Actually, my kids still love them.
The idea for these taco pita pizzas came to me when I had a memory of sister’s love for taco pizza back when she worked at Shakey’s Pizza as a teenager—she’d always bring some home, and we couldn’t get enough of it.
We did some experimenting the other night, and everyone loved how they turned out. I can’t believe I didn’t think of this sooner!

Tammy’s Tips For Making Taco Pita Pizzas
Pitas – For quick weeknight meals, I use whole wheat pitas for my family and Against the Grain gluten-free pitas for myself. On weekends, we like to make homemade pita bread.
Meat – Ground beef, chicken, or turkey all work. You can use the seasonings in the recipe or a 1 oz packet of taco seasoning. Siete brand is my favorite. I do not add water to the meat when I mix in the seasonings. This helps to keep the pita from getting soggy.
You could also double the meat mixture for tacos or taco salad later in the week – making this a cook once, eat twice meal.
Cheese – I go light on the cheese, and my grandchildren don’t use any at all. So these can be dairy-free.
Toppings – These are so easy to customize. Use my suggestions or add your own. My homemade pico is a great substitute for the tomatoes and onion.
I hope you enjoy these taco pita pizzas as much as we do. If you try this recipe, please let me know.
