Learning about nutrition became a huge priority for me after my husband, Tom, had a heart attack in 2013. Since then, health and wellness have become my passion, so much so that I became a certified Integrative Health and Nutrition coach. What the Heck is an Integrative Health and Nutrition Coach? Good question! Find out in today’s post!
I spent years researching a variety of topics related to health and wellness. At first, I centered most of my research on the benefits of eating whole foods, but over the years I have learned that diet and exercise are not the only things that impact overall health.
After educating myself for years, I realized how difficult it can be to navigate through all the information/misinformation out there about health and wellness. I wanted to help others, so they didn’t have to spend all the countless hours that I spent researching and digging through the internet. That’s why I enrolled in a formal course with the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and became a certified Integrative Health and Nutrition Coach.
So what the heck is a health and nutrition coach?
An integrative health and nutrition coach is a supportive mentor who helps clients make step-by-step lifestyle changes to reach health and wellness goals.
Rather than offer short-term solutions that increase quality of life as quickly as possible, health coaches offer wellness strategies that increase overall quality of life long term.
Unlike mainstream approaches that push one-size-fits-all wellness methods, health coaches take a holistic approach to health and wellness and explore all areas of life, some of which include career, community, physical activity, diet, and home environment.
Together, the coach and client examine the root causes that can hold you back from achieving your long-term goals. Instead of offering a quick fix, we cooperatively establish sustainable strategies to increase overall wellness.
Health coaches work in a variety of fields. They can work in doctor’s offices, wellness centers, gyms, or yoga studios. They can also teach, create products, or have a private practice. Many health coaches are authors and public speakers. I have a private practice and have plans to teach and create products.
Who Do I Help?
I help women who struggle with a lack of time, relationships, career, work-life balance, lack of energy, weight loss, weight management, and/or creating nutritious meals.
I help my clients figure out the tools that work for them and move them from wherever they are on their health journey to where they want to go.
How Do I Help?
I honestly believe there is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to health and wellness. Our physical, mental, emotional, and nutritional needs are one-of-a-kind. What you define as good health–and the path you take to get there–may not work for anyone else. Everyone’s bodies and lifestyles are different, so prescribing a one size fits all plan is not effective or sustainable. Therefore, everyone’s plan is individualized to meet their own unique goals. Here are some things I help clients explore while creating their sustainable plan.
- Health History (I do a free complete health history with every potential client.)
- Effective and Stress-Free Meal/Menu Planning and Grocery Shopping
- Healthy Recipes
- Time Management Strategies
- Organization Strategies
- Provide Nutrition and Supplement Information
