Healthy Whole Wheat Banana Bread

  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup, (or honey)
  • 1/2 cup softened butter, or (coconut oil)
  • 3-4 medium ripe bananas
  • 2 eggs
  • 3-4 medium ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup plain regular or Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup milk of choice
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 1/4 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease loaf pan. My pan is 9.25x5.25x2.75 inches. 

  2. Mix syrup and butter in a large bowl. Stir in eggs until well blended. Add bananas, yogurt, milk, and vanilla. Beat until smooth.

  3. Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt until well blended. Stir in nuts if using.

  4. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

Recipe Notes

1/2 cup of dark chocolate chips can be added if desired.
