Super Simple Homemade Bagels

These bagels are so delicious and contain only a few simple ingredients that you probably already have in your kitchen.

Servings 4 Bagels

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt drain excess liquid
  • 1 egg beaten I use the whole egg but you can just use the egg white

  1. Preheat oven to 400F. Line baking sheet with parchment paper and grease.

  2. In a medium bowl whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. (If using self-rising flour omit baking powder and salt.) Add yogurt and stir until well combined. The dough will look crumbly.

  3.  Dust hands with flour and knead dough until well combined. Form dough into a ball.

  4. Lightly dust counter with flour and divide dough into 4 equal balls. Roll the dough into a rope. Form rope into a circle and pinch ends.

  5. Brush bagels with egg. Leave plain or top with favorite ingredients.

  6. Place on prepared baking sheet leaving space between each bagel as they will expand.

  7. Bake at 400 for 20-25 minutes.

These also work well in air fryer at 320 for 12 minutes. I can make 2 at a time in my air fryer.

Recipe Notes

If the dough is too sticky, add more flour. If the dough is too dry, add more yogurt. Enjoy!
