Greek nachos are a delicious and fun spin on traditional nachos. Pita chips are layered with some of your Mediterranean favorites including hummus, tzatziki, crisp veggies, fresh herbs, and feta. This healthy vegetarian recipe makes a great appetizer or an easy dinner.
Every year Tom and I try to come up with healthy alternatives to some of our favorite Super Bowl appetizers. We made these buffalo chicken skewers last year.
For the past few weeks, I’ve been sharing some of my favorite snacks/appetizers. Two weeks ago it was roasted red pepper hummus, and last week it was my tzatziki sauce. I decided to put the two together and come up with a healthy nacho recipe.
I know nachos and healthy don’t typically go together. But y’all, I have given traditional nachos a Mediterranean makeover, and I am not sorry about it! These Greek nachos are ahhhmazing!
I made them for dinner last week, and they never made it to the table. We all stood around the island and devoured them. My 25-year-old son said he liked them better than traditional nachos.
Tammy’s Tips
I made homemade pita chips with store-bought whole wheat pita bread that I cut into triangles. I then cut each triangle down the seam. This gives you double the chips and makes them nice and crispy when you bake them. (We typically make our own pita bread, but there are some clean options on the market, so I always have some in the freezer for quick lunches and dinners.)
These Greek Nachos are totally customizable. Make it your own with your favorite herbs and toppings. Adding ground lamb or Greek chicken would also be delicious for meat lovers.
I like to keep the toppings separated into sections so that everyone can scoop up their favorites. You can certainly spread the toppings evenly over the pita chips. They will be delish no matter which way you choose to serve them! Enjoy!
